So, a close friend of mine is a victim of this gem scam and is currently trying to deal with this. Either getting her money back or at least stopping the people doing it, or both!

Anyway, I have been researching on the net about this and it seems that quite a few people have fallen victim yet I fail to find out what they have been doing to sort this problem out, it's just a mention of what they plan to do. I have heard of 2 cases where people got their money back, both passing mentions, (and both cases Japanese).

Anyway, my reason for creating this thread is to try and get people who have fallen victim to this scam to come together and share their information about what they did after the scam, how they dealt with the credit card company, how they dealt with the police, and so on.

I read one guy got his case passed to interpol and they found the people that scammed him in their data base, but I don't know what else happened.

So if you know somebody that got scammed, or you got scammed yourself, i would super appreciate it if you could write here what you did afterwards to try and catch these people and/or get your money back.

Thanks in advance for anything people add!

If they act fast under certain circumstances partial restoration may be possible. However, few such "marks" are capable of that and then can only get on with their lives, sadder but possibly wiser for the long term. They learn hard lessons like, if its too good to be true it is and you can't fool an honest person..
