I recall someone offered Michael Palin 'joints' (and snakes, I believe
) in Mumbai, I think it was in Around the World in 80 days, and Michael was there only an hour or two by that time ![]() |

they offered me hashish, after they realized I was looking for fun. I said no, I was looking for sex, not drugs. But they couldn't give me that so they offered hashish. I said no again.

I was once offered drugs 8 times walking down Arthur Bunder Rd in Mumbai. Me and my friend used to keep a tally just for fun.
"Hello friend. Hash? Smack? Brown Sugar?" I agree the offers do seem to diminish with age and hair length! |

Off topic I guess - but why not:
I spent six months in India with another friend of mine who was very much into hash. He had myopic pigmentosa (Extreme tunnel vision and night blindness to you and me) Much amusement was had trying to get him back to the guesthouse on the ghats in Varanasi after he had purchased an extra strong bhang lassi at the main junction (Cant remember the name of the crossing) It was very much a case of "Quick! Down in one. Lets get back to the hotel before it gets too dark and this thing kicks in!" After which followed much fumbling and crashing hilarity down the alleyways. . . After a while we decided opium balls were the answer. They can be consumed at lesure! ![]() |

Was just checkin into find out about the opiumn scene
Namaste,
gregor here I have a backproblem that causes me to resort to morphine abd methdone quite often. I don't think the Veterans Adminstration will be me more than 30 day supply at a time and they use regular mail. I guess I was really putting out feelers if small amounts of opiumn were avaible. But mind over my back pain does not always work. I know the drugs screw up my mediation pratice and have been using it to either get off or have to use infrequently. As the VA only gives me such a small amount (days) would it be worth getting a Doc to RX my my pain relif RX's I have legit medical history and papers. But I don't know the street scene in Dehli, cause when my back goes out the pain is to much. So it is hard to be working on my spiritual path while medicated and the same for the other way. So I am stuck in the middle and enjoy serving and sitting so the temptation is not so great whirled peas, gregor

Ah! We had the idea that you wnted to avoid offers of illicit substances!!!!!
If you have a medical need, I see no reason why you should not be able to get what ever you require. Even a visit to a specialist in a top private hospital is affordable in outside-india terms: I'm sure that a pain-control specialist can prescribe or arrange whatever you need. Legally! A referral letter from your doctor might help.

Yes, do get your referral letters and prescription history. Not only will it prevent the "junkie trying to score" suspicion, it will allow the doctors to prescribe the drugs you require. & if you run into the law with the number of pills you might need to carry, it'll help too.

Next time I go... I'm cutting my hair. |
