Did he mean illegal drugs?

On our first trip to India, this tout whom we followed to a fancy boutique and spent too much money on our first day (Jiminy Cricket, we were so naive!) ..... Anyway we followed this tout - very cute, too - and he said that he is from Rishikesh area and that he also sells ayurvedic medicine. It's been a long time but finally I have the question, "Was he using code words for illegal drugs and we just didn't know it?"

I'm not sure, becuase last year a guy was following us saying "Do you want marijuana, mary jane, weed, bhang, hash, hasheesh... " and whatever else it's called, but he was just listing every term for it. I prefered his frankness because the answer was an easy no.

Anyway, any insites into this would be helpful.

Who's to say, but I assume he was just pitching in to an advertized Westerner's interest in ayurvedic medicine yes. May have been quite upright about it even.

You have some weird questions sometimes if I may say (I don't mind), haven't you been there quite often or have a background there even?

Okay, this is a stupid thread but I am an extremely stupid person which should be obvious if you've ever read any of my other questions. I thought I had a good question because I miss opportunities unless they're stated directly to me and I misunderstand those that are. (No, don't misunderstad me here, I don't want to do drugs.) In India, we have met so many people with they're own agendas that it is a bit hard to understand what people are getting at. Next time I have a hunch, I will hesitate to ask you because I really do hate being called out on my stupidity.

C'mon , dont take it to heart. Everyone here understands and i am sure empathizes with the general confusion that is India...humor tends to play a big part on the forum as i am sure you would have realized by now...

No question is stupid, it might be repetitive at best and if yes then the OP would be informed to that degree but even then not without being advised ,even if it is only to say where on the forum that information can be found..

So don't hesitate, ask away!

The Indian is a mythical creature and India is a mythical place which has not been found yet!

So @proxyindian you cannot be stupid with that username only smart in your own way.

Hordes of "doctors" descend on Delhi supposedly from the Himalayas with loads of supposedly Ayurvedic medicines, herbs etc. etc. they set up tents, many use a tape player(the play back speed is always either slower or faster) to attract people.
No dearth of suckers.....

Before going to India the first time, my mother said, "Please don't talk to anyone." And she had good reason. Anyone who talks to me for long figures out that I'm "odd" or "weird". Last year I had the unfortunate experience of being invited to "World Tourism Day" event in Bikaner. There were a dozen news people there with their pens and pads and their cameras, and they interviewed me. Afterwards the hotel host was saying "I think they've found their story for tonight." I wasn't on the news at all and thank god because I was only humiliated in front of a few people rather than a city.

And I am going to cut back on my questions becuase once again I've gone too far and I need to recover my composure, hide under the couch and lick my paws.

Thank you to anyone who has answered my questions in the past.

Don't be silly, be proud of being "odd", believe me it's far better than being boring!

yea well - there is an 'operative' word lurking somewhere in your statement above.
