carrying a great dane on a train

I had read an earlier thread about carrying a dog on a train. I want to travel with my Great Dane from Bandra to Faridabad by Paschim Express in the third week of June. I sent an enquiry to irctc.co.in about reservation of a coupe and I received a curt reply stating that a dog is not allowed to travel with any other passenger when all I wanted was a two-berth coupe in First Ac for my wife and myself and our dog. Could you help me ? I dont want to put her (my dog not the wife!) in the guard's luggage van in this sizzling summer heat.

regards

Pick up a copy of one of the train timetables ---sorry, I haven't seen mine (Southern) since moving house.

I know it says in there about dogs being able to accompany passengers in 1AC.

Well found!

That sounds stricter than I remember from my Southern Railwy timetable --- but I can't find the thing, so I guess that's out-of-court until I do!
