I am Dr.Ravikumar.I became a member of crimson (holiday timeshare group in Bangalore) last year and had a vacation in Goa during the OFF-SEASON (April).I also felt that by being a crimson member I can only avail holidays in the off-season and NOT WHEN I WANT .SO I was not interested in renewing my membership with crimson. . One of the marketing executives, Mr. Sunil pestered me into renewing my membership this year also. He said this year there is an offer for foreign trip .I said I would b interested ONLY to go to Singapore in December as I have a conference there .He said I would get the vacation in Singapore if I call him in august and book. I did call him the entire month of august but still I did not get my holiday. I have been put to a lot of inconvenience.
He had also assured me that my money would b refunded in case I don't get my holiday, but now he says the money cant b returned. This is clearly a CASE OF CHEATING-Giving false assurance to obtain membership. Now they have given me a holiday in manali, INDIA instead of Singapore. They promised me an apartment like accommodation with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen in STERLING INN, MANALI .BUT when I got my holiday ticket I was SHOCKED to know that they had given me a single room without separate bedroom or kitchen in snow crest manor. I asked them to cancel this holiday and give me what they had promised BUT they said once booked it cannot b canceled. Now how can my aged parents, my wife and son stay in a single room without any privacy? They now say that I can go police or anyone and that I cannot do anything. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO NOW? I am sure he must be cheating many other people in Bangalore similarly. I would like to CAUTION people to stay away from this group CRIMSON and not get cheated. |

Unfortunately you are not the first person in the world to regret signing up to a timeshare contract.
Can anyone comment on this thread and the company Crimson? I think they should be given a chance to reply to this allegation.

I guess you should approach the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ( or consumer court in short )...

I second Bigzero; the Consumer court. You may need some paperwork on what they promised; preferable to verbal assurances which can be disputed.

Absolutely agree with you guys - Make sure you find every single piece of correspondance, receipts, EVERYTHING at all possible if you go to the consumer court. Write down a log, from begining to end of everything dates and people spoken to/heard from - as much as possible that you can remember before you go - keep it fairly brief though - but make sure that every important detail is logged.
I am sorry for those who buy timeshare - years ago when I was young I went to the Canaries, as one does, and they pestered us from begining to end of the vacation - in the end I spoke only Hebrew in response to them (they seemed to speak every concievable language...other than Hebrew and only then, for the last four days of our trip did they leave us alone. We did however, go to plenty of the "open days" and get a bottle of wine, or some other treasure given free of chrgae and also had our lunch on them a few times. We reckoned it made ammends for their constant bothering of us!Seriously, I do hope that you get some satisfaction form the consumer court - I believe it's the only way to go as you'll never get to speak to them directtly again - or if per chance you did, they would merely talk in circles and confuse the matter more - or set the blame squarly back on your shoulders. I am really sorry you have this pain. ![]() |

Well, I hate to hear your bad experience w/ timeshare, Shanti. I actually came from America to work for Royal Resorts in their Holiday Ownership Sales Dept., and being a member myself with Fairfield Glade in the US, and w/ Royal Goan Beach Club in Goa, I have to say I have yet to find out anything negative with either. It is either for you, or it isn't...if you like it, you can use it, you want it, and probably most importantly, if you can afford it, then why would you consider not doing it? I paid 10x the price for a 1 bdrm unit in the US as I did in Goa, but I like the system. I think most people are curious enough to come to our presentations, but then they start fearing the price, and they get nervous, lose their courage, and instead of really exploring how investing in a LIFESTYLE of luxury, 5* holidays, is not only going to save them money, but even more importantly, from inception, become a viable ASSET, they get frustrated and cut themselves short, losing out on the best money they will ever throw away. It's a very simple concept...either keep throwing your money away your way and force yourself to stay in a 2-3* hotel because you either do not feel you deserve luxury, or you have not able to afford it, and bear in mind, holidays will not cost the same next year...inflation does go up...at staggering rates...or, pay a little now, and enjoy 25 years of 5* holidays for a mere fraction...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that if a membership cost you LESS than 5 years of holidaying your current way, and it provides you 25 yrs of holidaying our way, in luxury villas, not to mention if you do try it, and it's not for you, you can sell it after 5 years, and what have you lost...for the cost of 5 years your way you have paid for 25 yr year membership with an asset of 20 years of viable holidays left, and God forbid you decide, or fate does, you will never ever holiday for the rest of your life, and you sell the remaining 20 yrs for, worst case scenario, the exact same amount you paid for it...Gee, you just got 5 FREE years of luxury...it just makes simple sense. Also, I have been to the Canaries, and Yes! they bug the living life out of you, but would you come to a presentation if they told you it was timeshare?...it's not easy finding sensible people with open minds...and one more thing...I appreciate you admitting you are a gift seeker, but for goodness sakes, take it somewhere else. I don't want to waste my day anymore than you do...I live in Paradise, it is true, and I can show you how you can own luxury, and have it as often as you like it, without you opening up your wallet and pouring it in my pocket...if you want the gift...don't waste my time...tell me up front, and we'll see what we can do. This is the best investment I have ever made for myself and my loved ones;Don't knock it until you've tried it. You WILL be pleasantly surprised...how do you think I came to this business...I sat through a day's presentation because I wanted my i's dotted and all the t's crossed; I did ask every question in the universe, and I wanted to verify Consumer Protection, yada, yada, and not in 1 million years was I ever saying YES...I just knew there was a catch somewhere...Well, I am a college graduate, and I have a PhD, and before I opened my mind this was such a racket...then the light bulb came on, and it was for me; I did deserve the best; my family's peace of mid was on my mind. Now, here I am recruited to a job I love in a tropical paradise, and I cannot wait to start my day and show you what I saw. At the end of the day, I love my job; yes or no, I always treat my clients with respect, and I wish them a nice holiday. Somedays I congratulate them for being successful in procuring that no holds bar...stop in and see me sometime.

Interesting to hear from the other side! Althouygh I probably took in as much as I would have done in a presentation.
I guess companies vary very widely both in how they sell and in how they treat the customer once sold. The closest I've ever come to it was a few days on someone else's Sterling Resorts membership. I have to say I was disapointed, especially with the attitude of the staff to complaints, which was mostly just to laugh. I mentioned this to a Sterling salesman at an exhibition: he laughed.

The Royal Goan beach club is not a 5 star by any stretch of the imagination. Another thing could you tell your bosses to stop sending their touts to lure in people enjoying their holidays in Candolim and Calangute. Tons of tourists including myself have been harassed by these leeches. ![]() |

...not necessarily true: life insurance is a great product, given a bad name by the methods used to sell it.
Miranda... I tried again to read your post, but again my eyes glazed over a couple of lines in. Something in there about a PHD? You didn't learn about puctuation? |

I have sat through a number of sales sessions from these timeshare folks, but so far hasnt found a convincing reason why i should shell out bulk money and be a lifetime prisoner to years of indifferent service... . I would rather pay more and have the freedom to go where i want. |

Better to pay a little more and then be free to travel wherever, whenever you want. |
