'Abused' Australian invokes Indian dowry law

Hi all,

In this case, a 'scam/annoyance' in Australia.

Reported in a reputable newspaper in Melbourne, the Age.

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/20...036900847.html

!!

Not to make light of her plight, but I'm a little disbelieving of her gullibility. I wonder if she's travelled in India?

"I loved him and kept hoping that if I gave him what he asked for, he would change..."

"They hinted at something about him, about his past record and his criminal background and I went 'Oh gosh', but I still didn't quite grasp what they meant," she said."

she has bigger problems than that husband.....

Can we all club together and buy her a copy of Women Who Love Too Much?

Whereas one would not expect this woman to have grown up in a family which taught her to be docile and submissive (err... not traits I associate with Australian ladies of any hair colour) it is not so rare to be conned.

I married a girl from India in 2000 and we now live in New South Wales. I told her at the time that I expected a dowry of 3 goats, a cycle rickshaw and 500 Rupees; 7 years later I'm still waiting. It's lucky I read this article, or I might have kept on hassling her.

I married a woman in India in 2005.

I'm still waiting for the colour TV and the cow.

Now I find that her son is getting married, and his new wife is not going to come and live with us and be our unpaid servant 24 hours a day.

Oh! The Disappointment!
