Where to relax in Rajasthan?
Hi IM friends!
I am planning to terminate my quick tour (22 days) in North India during next March in some relaxing place in Rajasthan, after the Jaipur Elephant fair. Can anybody suggest a not so far spot where is it possible to rest after days and days of temples, palaces, curry and trains? I am looking for a place where to make walks, relax, have a bath in a lake, and so on. Can Pushkar be OK for such a purpose? By the way, is there any problem in be in Jaipur during the Holi Festival? The Routard Guide has a warning not to travel to Jaipur on this days since there have been turists reporting serious burning after having been hitted by baloom filled with acid... it sounds too unbelievable to me!! Thanks for your help! Gianni, Rome, Italy |

udaipur and mt abu are the two "chill out" spots polular amongst tourists.
onebeing a quaint even magical city surrounded by hills and studded with lakes. the other is one of the better hill stations of india, outside of the north himalayan belt. even jaiselmer is a good chill out spot - the "chilling out" being done at night on the sand dunes just outside your (rented) tent, most likely, beer bottle in hand. what sort of a place are you looking for ? |

Thanks, friends! Pushkar pictures looks really, it really seems a paceful place where to rest and experience some interesting excursions!
I have however dedinitively changed my planning focusing it much more to Rajastan: this is what I would like to try: Delhi (1 day) - Varanasi (3 days) - Agra (1 day); then move to Rajastan for 12 days with an itinerary through Jaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur. From Udaipur plane to Goa via Mumbai for our last 4 days of "decompression" before flying back to Italy. I will travel by train wherever it's possible; what about the connection from Jodhpur to Udaipur? Is there a bus available? Where do you think it's worthwhile to stay more or which of the above destinations I'd better skip? Thanks to everybody, this website is the best source of information about India travels I've ever seen! Gianni, Rome, Italy |

As I remember from 2002 from Jodphur to udaipur there's plenty of buses (both public and private companies) and they go through ranakpur which jain temples worth the stop!!!
And my vote goes always for pushkar!!! enjoy india. |
