Visiting udaipur lake palace

1) Does the udaipur lake palace still offer outsiders to come in for lunch, dinner or tea? How is the buffet and how much does it cost?

2) If not, what's the best way to get in and see the hotel?

Yes the only way to get a free rido into the hotel is to book a lunch or dinner in advance at one of their various restaurants. Do it well in advance to ensure you get a booking -- they can be booking. The the people will have your name in the guest list and you get a free boat ride to the hotel .
Food is not cheap -- your cheapest bet is the buffet lunch 0-- but the place is certainly breathtakingly beautiful.

i think i plan to play a trick - probably say I'm looking to hold a corporate function in there and would like to tour the hotel before I decide. That way I'll pretty much get a tour of the entire hotel

You guys think it'll work?

Make an appointment from an official looking emailaddress (e.g. not hotmail)

Have businesscards printed

Get a haircut (a good one)

Put on your light weight tropical businesss costume.

They probably give you lunch then

It looks like the cheapest rate to stay at the Lake Palace is $500 a night. Is it worth it? This is a serious question. I could have a hell of a good time at a $500 room in Vegas, Miami, or NY.

Last I heard you could get a small room fo 80 but I would recommend a suite for 200+. Its a great place and I had a smashing time there. The Bellagio at Vegas by contrast was only 100 for a Lakeview room (ask to be upgraded to that)..
