Udaipur to jaisalmer

Hi !
Could you tell me if it 's possible to go directly to jaisalmer : bus...train or bus...bus?What is easiest ,do you know the cost and the timetables.

Train from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur and then a bus to Udaipur seems to be the best option. It's a long trip though and perhaps a stop at Jodhpur for a night will refresh you, specially if you are planning the trip anytime from now to October!

Hi Cathy, I took this route yet it was well over a year now, so maybe one of the others can give you the specifics on how to do it. I wanted to tell you that what I did was to take an overnight train from Jaisalmere to Jodphur and then hire a car and driver to Udaipur. Yes, it is makes for a loooong day, but I stopped at Ranakpur temples which in my opinion were one of the most beautiful sights in my long trip of India. There is also a fort near by which is worth seeing, it is a big name that escapes me at the moment.
The countryside in daylight was also very beautiful. It may be a bit expensive to hire a car, I am not sure if a bus makes these stops. If you have the money though I would say it is a worthwhile expense for this.
I wouldnt miss Ranakpur for anything. Good luck and happy travelling.

The fort you had seen was in probability Kumbhalgarh, a must not miss place!
