Udaipur Nightlife??

I have been living in Udaipur for a month and working at Lake Palace. I am constantly told there is NOTHING to do at night....yet often as I am leaving work I hear a familiar doof-doof sound coming from the other side of the lake. On enquiry to a fellow employee I was told not to go there, it is a "dope party" place full of backpackers. I want in Does anybody know where I mean?

Hilarious. I don't know the place you're talkin about, because I've never been to Udaipur, but I think Indians are sometimes over-cautious with things like nightclubs, especially in an almost dry state like Rajasthan. Go for it!

There are several rooftop restaurants which show movies (not always Octopussy). Some places have music. You can get beer, but I have never seen any "dope parties" during the times I have been in Udaipur.

Ok, in my desperation for a dance, I did some research and found a new restaurant just opened 6 months ago right on the waters edge of Lake Pichola (the same one I could hear.....well, fun happening). It is called Jheel View Restaurant and is all outdoors with lanterns, campfires, treehouses, huts etc. They hold a trance party around once or twice a month, the next one being 26th Jan (any Aussies in town, come celebrate OZ Day with me!). It is located at Naga Nagari, near Annapurana Temple, and starts around 9. Cover charge Rs 250.

Wooooohooooo!

What's wrong with Octopussy?

They showed it at night in the restaurant of our hotel (good restaurant and hotel btw: udai niwas). My son loved it and I had to order it, so he can see how it ends (yes it was bedtime before it ended.

Is the Jheel View Restaurant on top of the New Jheel Guesthouse? We stayed there last January and it was pretty quite. We had a nice room, but the restaurant didn't have much going on at all.

Hi fellow aussie, I will be there late Feb. For someone who has yet to visit Udaipur, is this place north or south of the lake ferry jetty...?

It is south of the boat ramp for Lake Palace. Just give the auto driver the address and he will get you there.
