Udaipur - Jaisalmer - Jodhpur routes
Hello everyone, I am new to indiamike and this is my first post. I have read through quite a bit of the travel threads but didn't find quite what I was looking for. Any help will be much appreciated! I am hoping to travel between Udaipur, Jaisalmer and Jodhpur. I am flying into Udaipur. Which of the other 2 might be easiest to travel do, then the other before flying out south to Kerala (either Cochin or Trivandrum)? Also, is it better to travel these routes by bus or train? I was thinking of Udaipur to Jaisalmer, then to Jodhpur as Jodhpur would be easier to depart from and save a leg traveling back to either Jodhpur or Udaipur again to fly out.
Thanks for your input! |

If you are coming after nov.1st 2007 ( you dont give a date for your travels) the airport at Jaisalmer will be open for civilian travel, before that date only Jodhpur is available. I suggest you go to Jaisalmer then to Jodhpur by train or bus if you are coming prior to Nov. but go the other way if you want to fly out of Jaisalmer! Also keep in mind the weather is now hotting up - currently Jaisalmer today must be at least 32'c and the longer you leave your travels, the more uncomfortable it will become. Don't do this journey in May or June when temps. are up to 45'c!

That's interesting news, did you find out this from the Internet or a newspaper?

Jaisalmer Plane
The information was given to me two days back when I picked up a plane ticket from the local Indian Airlines booking agent - official one that is located near the government hospital. I can tell you their name but it might look like advertising which this certainly is not!

Thanks for your advice. We'll be there in 2 weeks, at the end of March, so hopefully it won't be too hot just yet.

Jaisalmer weather!
Hopefully shouldn't be too bad- I live here so know all about it! Today is warmish but the mornings and late afternoons are good for walking about - you can see everything by walking ,no need to take little auto rickshaws by the way. Temps. max are now about 33-34'c.
