Udaipur Itinerary for 3 Days

I am going to Udaipur with my wife and 3year old kid in early January. Will the weather be pleasant? Also, kindly help me plan out an itinerary for 3 full days including the major sightseeing places. Also I don't want to miss on Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh Fort.

Welcome to Indiamike!

Weather would be fine in January to visit Udaipur though if you plan to travel by train then expect delays due to fog.

There is significant amount of information available at Indiamike regarding Udaipur and other places of interest around it. I would request you to go through it and prepare a rough itinerary based on your liking, preferences, and budget. Other IMers will definitely help you in fine tuning your itinerary.

Though many IMers will (and can) prepare an itinerary for you, in my personal view, it would be a bit too much to ask fellow IMers to prepare it from scratch ...it is just not a time-efficient way to go about it (again my personal views )

Thanks

I think you are quite right buddy! I have also added Day4 though i not sure it would be feasible at that time or not.My plan goes as follows:

Day1- Reach Udaipur at 7 in morning by train. Visit city palace in morning and Lake pichola in evening.
Day2-Travel by hired cab to ranakpur and kumbhalgarh. Come back by night.
Day3- Visit Jagdish temple, karni mata mandir and bagore Ki haveli.
Day4- Visit Fatehsagar lake and Dudhtalai.
We will try to do shopping in between.
Do tell me if I am missing something important and if the time allocated to various places is appropriate. Thanks again!

Maybe a child of three years is a little to young but for children Sahelion Ki Bari, a garden with many fountains and Shilipgram are nice places.

Jagdish Temple is near the entrance of the City Palace.

Dudhtalai and Karni Mata Mandir can be done on the same day evening. Additionally on the way to Dudhtalai you can also visit the Gulab Bagh garden. Near Gulab Bagh garden is Garden hotel whose Thali is good. The hotel also has a collection of vintage cars.

You can do Fatehsagar, Moti Magri, Saheliyon Ki Bari and Sajjangarh on 1 day.

For shopping, try the shop inside the RTDC hotel Kajri. Do not confuse the shop with the shop in the same compound. The shop I am talking about is after you cross the reception of the RTDC hotel.

You could also see the Ahar Cenotaphs and musuem.

Smile Rescheduling

Thanx vonkla and aakrosh for your thoughtful and prompt replies. As per your suggestions, i reschedule my trip:

Day1- Reach Udaipur at 7 in morning by train. Visit city palace in morning and Lake pichola in evening.
Day2-Travel by hired cab to ranakpur and kumbhalgarh. Come back by night.
Day3- Visit Jagdish temple, bagore Ki haveli and Fatehsagar lake.
Day4- Visit Dudhtalai, karni mata mandir, Gulab Bagh garden and Garden hotel.

What is the suitable location of the hotel where most of thees places are in close vicinity? I mean if Hanuman Ghat or Gagnaur Ghat on lake pichola is better. Also What is the best way to get around the city. I am travelling on budget.

We did Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh in one day. Since we only visited the fort in Kumbhalgarh it was a well spend day.
Many places in Udaipur itself we visited by a half day trip with an auto rickshaw.

Udaipur Itinerary:3 days

After following my fellow members on IM, I have prepared a detailed # day itinerary for Udaipur. I have also cited the main attraction of that particular tourist place. Do me if the eating joints i have chosen are Ok and near to the place I Intend to visit on that particular Day.
Day1- Reach Udaipur at 8 in morning by train. Have breakfast at Govinda's Cafeteria, Visit Jagdish temple and City palace ( since Jagdish Temple is near the entrance of the City Palace. ) in morning, have thali lunch at Natraj lodge (near railway station) and see Lake pichola and Bagore ki haveli (7-8pm show but by tickets at 6.30 as they are sold out early) in evening. Have dinner at Ambrosia (restaurant of Amet Haveli located on western banks of lake pichola. Reserve in advance).

Day2- Visit Fatehsagar lake (take a boat ride and visit the island with Nehru Garden and boat shaped Cafe), and Saheliyon-ki-Bari in the morning, Doodh talai in the evening (for sunset views) and take cable car to Karni mata mandir. Roam about city, Do shopping. Have dinner at Mewar haveli Rooftop Restaurant.

Day3- Travel by hired cab to Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh.Have lunch at ranakpur jain temples. Come back by night. Have dinner at Jaiwana haveli's (Lala Ghat) rooftop restaurant.

Also, where should I choose a hotel to be near most of these places?

I hope this itinerary comes handy to whosoever visits udaipur in future!!!!!!

udaipur and Chittoregarh

Hi guys,
I plan to reach Udaipur on 21th December 2012 and stay there for 3 days. I also want to visit Haldighati and Chittoregarh(I am a great admirer of Maha Rana prathap singh). Is it ok to stay in Udaipur and go for a daytrip to Chittoregarh or I have to stay there overnight? What is the distance between these two places?
Any good place to stay in Chittoregarh? Thank you.

You may look at Aarosh's trip reports for answers to some of your questions: Mt. Abu – Udaipur trip report.

ps we stayed in Chittorgarh but we went from Jaipur only to Chittorgarh for the purpose of visiting the fort. So our circumstances were different. I've heard people visit it in a few hours!
