That's one long exhausting trip Indizen, most of the time on the trains! Still, if you get Sleeper or A/C sleeper you can stretch out.. No, you couldn't possibly fit in Pushkar in that time frame
IMHO.

Udaipur is 660 km from Delhi so even if I took the car it may be very tiring. And these trains are good. Could u suggest a modest place to stay in the city of palaces!! Thank you |

The train definitely better than driving all that way in such a short time. If you go to 'Hotel' on the red bar at the top of the page, find your way to Udaipur and there are quite a few suggestions there.

Trains booked; trip confirmed
Hi
I'll be in Udaipur for 2 nights over the Holi break. What to expect regarding the festival itself? Will normal touristic activities be disrupted? Will the palace museum be closed? Which is the more atmospheric area to stay? Hanuman Ghat? Lal Ghat? Please suggest some must see and do activities over 2 days. Please recommend places specifically for breca, lunch and dinner. Thanks for your time. |

Further to my earlier query, could anyone please rate these sights of Udaipur as really not to be missed, etc:
* Fateh Sagar Lake * Pichola Lake * Sukhadia Circle * Saheliyon ki Badi * Sajjangarh Palace * Udaysagar * Duddhtalaii & Musical Garden * Nehru Garden (Fateh Sagar) * City Palace Museum * Shilp Gram |

leave Sukhadia Circle, Udaisagat, Nehru Garden and Dudhtalai.
Sights not to be missed is City palace, Shilpgram, Sahelion-ki-Badi sowie der Monsoon Palace. Do a boatride on Lake Pichola, you will get a great view of the waterfront in Udaipur with all the Ghats. If you have abit of a time left see the temple at nagda. This one is really great! From Delhi to Udaipur and back take the Mewar Express, overnight train, 12 hours. |

for roof top lunch hotel hill-top would be good. You can also try laxmi vilas palace. That is near to the Fateh Sagar Lake.
I would suggest AC sleeper class (Rajasthan roadways ) bus from new delhi for udaipur.I have been traveling to udaipur for last 5years by bus and it is comfortable. Last edited by machadinha : Mar 9th, 2008 at 18:50. Reason: merged posts |

Rooftop Dining Experience
Any rooftop restaurants in Udaipur that have live music or a DJ with or without a dance floor?
Which places DO NOT screen the Bond film? Does hotel Jagat Niwas have a bar as well? |

Hai,
There are trains which reaches Ajmer before shatabdi ie; so trains like train no 9106 reaches Ajmer at 07.25.Then you have enough time to go and see pushkar. From Ajmer hire a car to Pushkar it will cost you approximate 200-300 rupees. You can finish pushkar with in 3 hrs. Thanks |

That's an overnight train that adds 2 hours to the journey. And liable to be late, all the way from Howrah. Anyways, our tickets are booked so that bit about this trip is sarcosanct. I need some more info on activities and dining options in Udaipur. Thanks |

Indizen - I guess there may be camels in Udaipur - they are all over Rajasthan - but personally I don't know of any for public riding etc.
You can buy drink in Jagat Niwas - don't think it has a separate bar area as such, though. |
