Unhappy Good times don't last forever!

On the way back, we wanted to have a late lunch at Bawarchi (highly recommended and locals themselves eat there regularly) but refrained owing to the supposed queue to get in. What we did not miss however were the gulab jamuns at Jai Bhole Mishthan Bhandar. There are 2 varieties (small and big or light and dark colored), and both are good. The auto chacha picked up another kg for us for just Rs. 100 in his brother's shop on the way back, which was even better.

The only regret was we couldn't pick up one of these elephants which beckoned us all though our trip, in every street! (see pic)

We had dinner at the heated (the Rajasthani warmth simply wouldn't "desert" us) restaurant in the hotel and left the enchanting city by the 9:30 pm train, wondering if we will ever return to such beautiful places!

Thank you, nayan and DaisyL, for the encouraging words.

In hindsight, I would have liked to post more photos which do not contain people in them, but since so many of us were traveling and I had the responsibility of "covering" (as we usually say in Kannada) everybody in every place visit, I ended up with only a handful of photos devoid of human presence. Now looking at other TRs, I have made a mental note to be more conscious next time. Any other suggestions would be most helpful .

Thank you, Travelling the hills. Talking of hills, we had been to Kashmir last May, but it was a very short trip - Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam (though we had planned 3 days in Pahalgam, due to some "caravan" issues on Jammu-Srinagar Hwy, we could only spend a day there). Hoping to return soon, this time during autumn to catch the colors.

Talking of family, there is a saying in kannada "hettavrige heggana muddu, katkondavrge kodaga muddu" which roughly translates to "one's own children, spouse, and family are always considered cute/charming/beautiful/.... by oneself, though they may be quite ugly and actually resemble mice or monkeys." So any compliment from outside the family is heartwarming. I will pass on your message to the people concerned.

Need info on Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur

Hi Keshava,

I'm planning to visit Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur from 23rdDec17 to 31st Dec2017.
It will be helpful, if you share hotel name with contact number at these places. Also have wish to stay at Sam Dunes. Any suggestion for camp? If you have any driver number who can pick up from Jaisalmer station and do sight scene?

Thanks.
Prasenjit

In Jaisalmer, I stayed in Hotel Roop Mahal. It's a good budget hotel & close to Golden fort. Mobile no. 094147 60622 (Mr. Chandra Singh, Owner). Free pickup was there from the Jaisalmer railway station.
In Jodhpur, I stayed in Hotel Castle View Home stay. This hotel is close to Mehrangarh fort. From hotel rooftop, you can witness a lovely view the fort. Ph. no. 0291 264 0177/09928282263.

Durag Nivas in Jodhpur is good, they help local women & its nice & clean. In Jaisalmer the Royal Haveli is good, you can walk to fort & the market from there. We stayed at both in March.
