I recently visited the town called Banswara in Rajasthan. It is a well developed town with some good places to visit. Well, there are not too many specific places in particular but there are a lot of Dams constructed all around this district and the reservoirs of these dams make for a good picnic spot. There was one garden called Kagdi Pickup which I visited too. Banswara is a quite little town with warm people. The marriage function was an effluent Marwadi affair and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I even visited a Temple called Tripura Sundari a few Kms from the main town. Banswara is rich in minerals like coal and marble. It is well industrialized too. The property rates are surprisingly high for town like Banswara. It is not the kind of place whihc would feature in your dream destination but if you land up there you will enjoy its simple ways.

hi Karuna,
i am planning to tour a small part of rajasthan as i have some budget and time constraint this year. i have gone through the post. after that i have some questions which i believe i can put with respect to my planning that runs as follows.
d1 ajmer (reaching by 4-00 am)
d2 ajmer sight seeing including pushkar
d3 reach jaipur early (train)
evening light and sound trip to amberfort.
d4 jaipur sight seeing
d5 journey to sawai madhopur (train)
availing the last safari
d6 morning safari
journey to bundi/kota (train)
d7 sight seeing bundi and kota
d8 train from bundi/kota

please post your advice and suggestions to guide me. also give a rough idea of expenditure per day per head. i saw that there exists some paying guest accommodations at almost all those places except sawai madhopur which appears to be cheaper. do you have their experience, how are they for family tour? how much is room rent in sawai madhopur?
looking forward for your reply

hi bishwarup

1. your travel plan seems pretty ok focussing on a small part of rajasthan!!
2. expenditure per day per head wud depend on the number of heads travelling as costs would decrease if 2 people stay in a room compared to 1!! However, based upon my experience, it should cost around INR 1000-1500 per head per day. I am assuming that you will be eating at budget places n staying on a twin sharing basis!!
3. There are many resorts in Sawai Madhopur area starting from around INR1200 per room. I hope you have already booked your safaris as you don't get good zones on the spot!!
4. For a family tour, I would suggest not staying in PG accommodations as they are more suited to single travelers!!!

dear sach,
thanks for your reply. evidently you have first hand experience of touring this part of rajasthan and hope you do not mind if i put some more questions.
1) if i have 1 or 2 extra days where should i put it in my itinerary?
2) how early should i book safari? i am planning to go there in early november 2012.
3) number of team member is 6 to 8 adults and two children. so what should be the cost per day per head?

hi,

1. I think you can put one extra day to Jaipur and 1 to ranthambore. Unless, you are very lucky, its not easy to see tigers!!!
2. You should book safari atleast 1-2 months in advance. Then also, you would only get a Canter. Gor gypsy, you need to book further in advance!!
3. Per day per head costs should be around the same INR 1000-1500 per day!!

P.S. I was in Bandhavgarh National Park yesterday. Finally got to see tigers!! :-) That was my 6th trip to a National Park!!!
