Sight seeing in Udaipur

Hi

I will be arriving in Udaipur on a Sat morning in Mar at 7:45am and then departing next morning at 8:20am. Plse advise if it is easy to obtain taxis in Udaipur for a day's sight seeing tour, or if it must be arranged via the hotel. Alternatively would appreciate any suggestions on organising sight seeing for 1 day in Udaipur.

Taxis and rickshaws are everywhere and easy to obtain sightseeing tour. Hotels and travel agents would also be happy to arrange a tour. You could also spend part of the day seeing the palace, a boat ride to the island, and wandering around the market. I spent several wonderful days there, without ever leaving the city!

I'd suggest you forget the taxi and just wander around Jagdish temple area. Check out the temple, the City Palace, the Bagore-ki-Haveli (including the great evening dance performance), and take a boat out to the Lake Palace/Jagmandir. You'll get a great taste of the city, and it's all within easy walking distance.
