see my itenarary, any tips?!

Hello IMers. Anyone ever heard of Jasbhag tours? They are based in Jaipur. www.jasbhagtoursindia.com I found out about them by doing a search on google. I am just trying to find out if anyone has any experience with them. Also, attached you will find my itenarary. I am looking to slash a day or two if possible. Any tips on what I should exclude. Also, the prices quoted to me, do you all think I am getting a fair price. I understand that I WILL pay tourist premium no matter what, but I just want to make sure that the mark up is not huge. Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks

It looks like you will have to plan how to get back to your departure point from Udaipur. The tour seems to include most of the major sites in Rajasthan. How many days do you have?

The price is somewhat comparable to what we are paying for a 17-day trip around the same area, considering the fact that you have more things included.

no, actually we are leaving from Jaipur and returning to Jaipur. I just have to make arrangements to go from Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi. I am thinking that I will just hop on a train and go.

If you don't mind me asking, which travel agent are you using?

Wierd - must have been a trick of the eyes...I read "Transportation is from Jaipur to Udaipur". I did think that was kinda wierd - it costs them just as much to get back from Udaipur alone as it would to take you with them. But now I see - somehow the "Ud" parsed as a "J" to my brain (dyslexia strikes again).

It seems like you're going an awful long way to get up to Jaisalmer and then you come all the way back south again to Udaipur. In the Footprint Guide to Rajasthan, it suggests either a northern route or a southern route in two weeks. So either Udaipur and environs or Jaisalmer and environs.

At the same time, most people will tell you that Jaisalmer and Udaipur are don't-misses. A lot of people say that Jaipur and Rath can be skips, but they are so close to where you fly in/out that you might as well see them anyway.

We chose to leave out Jaisalmer and it was a very difficult choice. hopefully we can see it at some later point when we return to India.

Search for a thread comparing Udaipur and Jaisalmer. There was a very long thread on this some time ago and it might help you make your decision.

Totally unworkable programme..theyre treating you like you were cargo. The drive Jaipur to Jaisalmer is 700 km. The drive Jaisalmer to Udaipur is 600 km. Youre going to be dead at the end of both drives. Udaipur to Sawai Madhopur in one day is again crazy. Stay away from this programme!!

You should check out some of the other travel agent's itineraries. a lot of them give the approximate travel times. Then you can decide whether or not you want to spent 8-9 hours per day in a car or not.

Id suggest the following changes -

Reverse the itinerary Jaipur/Udaipur/Jodhpur/Jaisalmer/Jaipur. It could run as follows -

Train Jaipur to Udaipur
Drive Udaipur to Jodhpur
Train Jodhpur to Jaisalmer
Train Jaisalmer to Jaipur
Train or drive Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur.
Train Sawai Madhopur to Delhi or Bombay or Jaipur

Email me at nikpandit@gmail.com if you want me to flesh this out

Agree with npjai except fly to Udaipur

from Delhi on Jet Airways. Indian Airlines is cheaper but ("If you HAVE to get there in the worst way possible - think Indian Airlines.") not worth it.

hi guys, an update on my situation. I have decided not to go with the travel agency's itenrary. I will be doing most of the travel by train at night and hopefully that will save me some time.

I plan on taking a train from Delhi > Jaiselmer > Jaipur > Sawai Madhopur > Udaipur > Delhi

Now someone who is doing something like this, how can I go about arranging hotels, train station pickups, and sight seeing? Are there travel agencies in each of those cities that will help me with this? If you have had an experience with something like this, I would love to hear more.

Thanks again!

The drive from Jaipur to Jaisalmer via Jodhpur is too long. Better do the trip by train, it saves time & is much more comfortable & relatively safer. All the places are in the most popular tourist circuit in Rajasthan so infrastructure is in place. Hotels of all ranges are available in plenty. Search the hotel forum. There are a/c Volvo buses run by Rajasthan transport between Delhi & Jaipur.
Good luck & by the way I regularly fly Indian Airlines & have no regrets.
