Ranthambore accomodations

I have read the hotel listings for Ranthambore/ Sawai Madhopur. Has anyone been there recently? any new suggestions? also anyone been on a tour of the park that they liked?

Ranthambhor

I was there a few years ago stayed twice at the Castle Jhoomar Baori. And give it a thumbs up! Very close to park. Good hunting camp ambience. Make sure you ask the kitchen to put the beer on ice or it may be a little tepid when you return - cold lager a must after a safari in Rajasthan. Langur monkeys will have breakfast with you if you dine on roof. If it is true that only the cantors are used in the park and the Gypsy jeeps are not permitted it will make it more difficult to spot a Tiger as they don't cover as much ground nor go as far into the park. Best time is end of May/June when it gets dry and wildlife congregates around the lakes.

I have stayed there almost 15-16 years ago and the staff were quite friendly. Rustled up some food even though I landed there at close to 10 pm. Ohhh and be careful and wear shoes when you venture out - I had stepped out for a smoke in the courtyard and almost stepped on a scorpion
