Kindly help us to advice on this itinerary. Is there anything which should be changed or anything which is not workable. If not we will finalize this and start booking hotels.

Also if anyone has any idea please let us know the following :

1) What is the frequency of buses (preferrably volvo) and time taken by bus while travelling between following cities :

a) Jaisalmer to Jodhpur
b) Jodhpur to Udaipur
c) Udaipur to Jaipur via Chittuargarh (just 1 hour for sightseing)
d) Jaipur to Delhi

Also please let us know if hotels we have selected are good enough?

If you stay in delhi then i would say leave out jaipur and increase the no. of days in jaisalmer or udaipur as you can visit jaipur any time later.
If you bbok a cab from jodhpur you can stop by kumbhalgarh and ranakpur on the way- both of them are amazing places.

Thanks Ashwin

Thanks Ashwin for your advice. I have set aside 2 days each for jaisalmer and udaipur for my trip. do you mean to say that 2 days would not be enough to cover all the tourist attraction in these 2 cities.

Any idea whats the travel time by volvo between these cities ...

Jaisalmer - Jodhpur
Jodhpur - Udaipur
Udaipur - Jaipur

And what is the frequency of bus service. Approx what shall be the cab cost?

Kumbhalgarh

Please also let us know what are the tourist attractions in Kumbhalgarh and how much time does it takes from Jodhpur to reach Kumbhalgarh?

1. On first evening at Jaisalmer, you may see Havelis and do boating in Garisar lake. There is an interesting puppet show just opposite Garisar lake, it's organised in an equally interesting private museum.

2. I do not know this Sam dune camp operator. We opted for Camel Safari + Dinner with cultural program at camp. At our camp (name eludes me) cultural program was good, but food was pathetic.... I saw the camp huts there and in my opinion their night stay charges were too high..... So choose wisely.

3. At Jodhpur, Mehrangarh fort is the only attraction. Mandore Garden are ill kept and monkeys are a menace there. Janta Swet House at Ghantaghar is worth visiting for Lassi and other food items.

4. Jaipur to Delhi, flight will be expensive and not recommended unless you are short of time. It's a good road and you may take the comfy deluxe buses of Rajasthan Roadways.

You should visit kumbhalgarh for the fort and the views from the top. Deserves atleast 2-3hrs. I believe it's about 2.5hrs from udaipur-don't really remember. Also the temples at ranakpur- an hour from k'garh are also great, not to be missed.

Sure we will take delux bus from Jaipur to Delhi. Also will follow your advice on Jaisalmer first evening.

But i am still thinking if we should shorten our time in Jodhpur as mentioned in our itinerary.

Still waiting for someone to advice on Sam Dunes or Khuri Dunes !

Ajaysin,

We just came back from Rajasthan and stayed at Umaid Mahal in Jaipur. Booked online with credit card. No problems. Just try to print out the email confirmation you get from the website. They had my booking and all was good. Nice place for the price.
