Rajasthan motorbike tour: Aug 12: Jodhpur-Jaisalmer-Udaipur-Jodhpur: want to come?!

Hi all,

I've read through all the Rajasthan pages but couldn't find any information on this:

Is it possible to rent motorbikes in Jodhpur, and if so does anyone know of any places? I have a vague plan to rent a bullet there and spend around 10-12 days driving this route:

Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Barmer - Sanchor - Udaipur - Ranakpur - Jodhpur

I'll be arriving in Jodhpur around the 16th-18th August, how would the weather be around then?

And finally (but MOST importantly!) would anyone be interested in joining me?

Thanks,
Luke

There are no motorbike rent shop as such , for that you have to take help of the hotel incharge where you will be staying.

All the places that you have selected are in different directions .

Will suggest you to make your tour in 2 phases .

1st from jodhpur - jaisalmer and back

2nd from jodhpur - ranakpur - udaipur.

From udaipur you can get a flight to delhi or mumbai.

Indeed.

For anyone interested, there are no motorbike rental shops in Jodhpur, and none of the guesthouses are willing to rent them. I tried for 2 days.

Eventually I took a bus to Pushkar and rented one there. You can rent Enfields, Yamahas, Hondas etc. there. I got a TVS 110CC for 200 Rs. a day and drove all around Rajasthan. Pushkar-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer-Patan (Gujarat)-Mount Abu-Udaipur-Ranakpur-Pushkar.

It was a lot of driving but on great roads. Really enjoyable trip.

Good to hear you had a fun trip lukeirl. Could you post details of any establishments from Pushkar from where bikes may be rented - will be useful to other IMers.

Actually can't remember the name of the shop I rented from. It was part of a row of about 4 rental shops on the road leading away from the main market street towards Ajmer. Near the Ajmer bus stand.
