Rajasthan? Ideas?
Rajasthan? Ideas?
Namaste,
I am in Raj and have been in Udaipur for the past little while volunteering at Animal Aid. I am traveling alone and I am interested in seeing some more of Raj.
I was thinking Jaisalamer then to Bikaner, Pushkar and then up to Rishikesh and then to Taj then to Varanasi. Maybe Jodhpur?
I have 2 more months of travel and spent 3 months in the south. Any suggestions on what to see in Raj or elsewhere would be greatly appreciated.
Slowly acclimatizing here and I am freezing. Would love to see the north but, it just may be too cold.
Thanks!
Alicia

I am not aware of any such counter...where did you see it? Is it easier to get such a reservation? @ Ashwin, ericmonde is talking about Foreign Tourists and not domestic ones.... There is special quota and special counters for them...

Only a small number of trains have Foreign Tourist Quota tickets and the allocations are very small. The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.
Blog 2013 Indian Railways ARP changed to 60 days on 1st May 2013.

oh..do they get tickets easily? Like a few days in advance?
The tickets can only be bought at a limited number of Reservations counters in bigger cities in India. They have to be bought in person and the buyer must prove their tourist status and show proof that they have changed foreign currency into rupees. They can be bought at any time during the normal ARP subject to availability. Typically there may be 2 or 4 tickets in the FTQ for trains that travel on routes with high tourist demand. If they are not used I presume they are released on charting to help clear the general waiting list.
