Rajasthan: finding accommodation upon arrival?
Hi there
Am going to be in Rajasthan in August this year, and was wondering if it is easy to find traveller-type (ie cheap!) accommodation after arriving in town (i will be visiting many cities so just want an overall impression), without having booked previously. Also, if im travelling by train, and arriving in the middle of the night, would you recommend booking some accommodation in advance? Many thanks for the info Last edited by machadinha : Mar 6th, 2008 at 00:58. Reason: adjusted title |

Hey Neeraj, I have never booked an accommodation in Advance, except once..and I have traveled quite a bit..never faced any troubles in finding something to stay...
Anyhow August is the low reason in Rajasthan and you would surely get something anywhere...all known cities would have small hotels and lodges near the station, so if you land somewhere middle of night, you can spend the night at one of those places and next look for something that might be more suitable for you.. |

Just a tip - if you know you're arriving late, I'd be contacting by phone whichever place you want to stay in and let them know - I assume you'll have a list or handbook with you as a guide? This way you are not vulnerable to commission seeking rickshaw drivers who can take you off anywhere and get their commission. I always think it's a good idea to know where you are going when you get down from the train or bus. Not necessary to do a lot of advance bookings from outside India - book your first place of arrival is not a bad idea though.
