Quick Trip To Ranthambore From Agra

Hello.
In our travel trough Rajasthan (october-november) we'd like to go in a night train from Agra and going in a safari early in the morning as soon as we arrive to Ranthambore.
Maybe we could see the fort in the afternoon and spend the night there or even follow in our way to Kota or Bundi.
Do you think it's possible to do this or it's jut crazy?
Should we book a jeep through the official website of the park?
It's there any place were we can leave our lugagge?
And, How do you get to the fort? Should we book a car or it's a walking visit?

I know there're a lot of questions, but the more I read the more questions come to my head. Thank you all in advance for your answers.

It's not really practical to get an overnight train to Sawai Madhopur and get there in time for a morning safari. The safari's I did started at 6am, although I know times differ slightly, so you'd need to find a train that arrives no later than 5am. But what if the train is late?

Much better to get a train there in the morning, do an afternoon safari, overnight at a hotel, morning safari or fort and then off somewhere else...if you really want a flying visit.

All my family think that Ranthambhore was the highlight of our trip, so I'd suggest that you spend a couple/few nights there.

Yes you should book through the web site although the hotel will arrange it for a fee. You should book it as early as you can.

I never did a trip to the fort but it is a distance from anywhere so you'd need to organise transport.

Thank you for your advise. I try to review things to spend a little more time in the park.
Someone told me we could ask the jeep driver to leave us at the door of the fort and then coming back walking to the gate of the park. That would be a nice option. Don't you think??

It's certainly an option but it's a longish walk, past an area where two seperate tiger spots were made whilst we were there!!
Also bear in mind that some of the hotels are a few miles away from the park entrance too.

The locals seem to cram a few dozen people into Mahindra jeeps so perhaps you could get a lift? I didn't see any non locals doing this but it's got to be possible.

I guess if you do this then do it after a morning safari only, it'll be a long dark walk back otherwise.

All in all I think the best option would be to be dropped at the entrance to the fort after a safari and prearrange your hotel's taxi to pick you up a few hours later. This presumes that you'll get on routes 2 or 3 as the entrances for 1, 4 and 5 are before the entrance to the fort. The problem is that you won't know which zone you'll get until you get in the gypsy/canter.

Thank you again. Ithink Iwill have to stay there at least for one night.

Do you know if it would be difficult to hire a car to go from there to Bundi or it would be easier to get there by train??

I doubt you'll have much trouble organising a car when you're there.
