the rpoblem is going in from Ajmer at the time of the Fair takes a lot of time due to road blocks and all the buses are over-crowded!
In order to avoid this stress, I would prefer to get a more expensive, over-priced accommodation in Pushkar. In fact a lot of the tented camps are not so very expensive and the smaller ones which do not cooperate with the large travel agencies are not always fully booked. Still, in all this mess I do prefer to have a prior booking ;-) I still remember the Fair in 2002, hardly any crowds at all, but lots of soldiers and police all over due to a bomb threat! Anyway, I will be also there this year, going on horseback from Udaipur ;-) It can be really freezing at night when you sleep in a tent, so you should consider bringing warm sleeping clothes, woolen socks and maybe a long underwear. |

Folks...
I really wanna be there this time around... And as was suggested by Aishah earlier, I might choose to stay at Ajmer and make a day trip (or even more) to Pushkar if things go really out of hand, as is quite likely...! Anyone keen...? Cheers...! |

Am interested in the tent camps and was wondering where/how could i find out more about it?
As the fair is from 10-13 november, and the camel trading starts before that -- when would be best time to get there? |

Been going to the Pushkar fair since 2004, going this time as well. I stay at Pink Floyd Cafe, never paid more than rs.300/day. Its pretty nice, clean and the roof top cafe is fantastic.
Cheers, Shamik
