Pushkar - camel festival

My wife and I are planning to visit the camel fair this year (November 18 - 26). Although I dont think we'll have the time to be there for the full 9 days. Can anyone give advice on when the festival is in full swing. On the weekend, the first 2 days, the last 3 days?

Also was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to stay that I could hopefully book before we get there.

Pushkar is plenty of hotels and guest houses and it all depens on your budget and requirements.

As i've said in this thread Hotel or Guest House in Pushkar i really like Krishna Guest House.

the pushkar fair u cant say when its in full swing or not becoz u miss many things if ur late .
secondly u can book hotel from web www.hotelsinrajasthan.com look for white house hotel in pushkar or pecock resort

now have tried 2 times. get id number for supposedly checking reservation but when I check it does not exist (not accepted or refused--just missing)

The Pushkar Mela is infact a 5 day event, the last day coinciding with the Full Moon with a gradua lbuild-up towards that. So those are the days which you should aim for.
At one time 36hrs before the event you wouldn't have guessed what the town was going to be like in 2 days time, Then Boom,,,,, literally overnight millions, yes millions, of pilgrims hit the place, they have guide ropes down the centre of Pushkars main street to seperate left from right, It's so jam packed with people.
Then 24 hrs after the full moon everything went back to normal,,,,,,,
