Pushkar Camel Fair dates?

I am planning to visit pushkar in nov this year as part of a delhi-mumbai trip. I have heard that to see pushkar at its best you should try and get there for the start of teh festival not the middle or end. Has anyone actually been there before the festval officially starts? if so was there anything to see?
The efstival this yera is 5-13 of november and i have the option f being there on the 7th8th or 2,3,4th? Any advice

The Fair is at its height around the Full Moon which is on the 13th. So I think 7th and 8th would be better dates for you than the others which might be too early. Re- reading your post, maybe you want to be there when there is no Festival? Then you would go 2,3,4!!

Plenty of people visit outside of the fair. If you want to be there or not depends on do you want to be in the middle of a huge crowd of people I guess. Make sure to arrange some accommodation beforehand if you do want to go at that time (and count on prices going way up).

For an impression of Pushkar at any time, you could search the Photo forums for it. A great panoramic series on the fair is at Pushkar, Large Panoramic Photo ; more on the site it links to, I think.

Pushkar VR photo tour

This is the newer version of Pushkar and the Pushkar Camel Fair VR tour.
http://www.indiavrtours.com/pushkar/hill_temple4.html

There’s a control bar along the bottom of the image that fades away when you leave it, mouse over it and you can open the image up full screen, switch to HQ for high quality and do a few other things. With your mouse you can turn the photo to see in any direction and use the wheel to zoom. All of the red dots are places you can go to with a click of you mouse.

Cheers,
Cameleer

Thumbs up

That's just absolutely splendid again, Cameleer I had the impression some of the earlier links had gone down yes. But this really surpasses them all. What work!

You have an excellent rooftop view there, is that a hotel and if so which one, if you care to share it?

I had used up all of my allowed servers disk space on CamelPhotos.com and had to remove some of the large files. Now I’m putting all of my VR photos on this new site IndiaVRtours.com, still a lot of work left to be done on it.

For the Pushkar tour I still have a few photos to add showing more of the camels and horses there along with info that pups up about each pano when you hit the I-button.

That hotel is the Raj Palace, Opp. Old Rangnath Temple, Varah Ghat
The boy on the rooftop was flying a kite when I went up there.

Cheers,
Roger
