Arrow Papu (Pushkar): Queen of the Desert?

In 2001, I met Papu, a Bopa woman living in Pushkar. She has stunning green eyes, something that not only struck me, but many other tourists as well: I guess she is and was photographed by most of the foreigners visiting Pushkar (Rajasthan)! I spent a couple of weeks with her relatives, made a short video documentary about four generations of her family. Later, when I was back home and surfed the net, I came across the pictures of others and sometimes I suddenly saw her beautiful face appearing somewhere in the world on someones webpage.

This made me curious! How many of you have been to Pushkar and made a photograph of this lady? Papu, Queen of the Desert? Please share your photograph and story with me if you want. I am thinking (of course with your permission and hers as well, we are in touch!), of writing her story, with contributions from all over the world. Maybe even a small exhibition....

But first some research is needed. Your help!

If you want to see who she is, go to the PEOPLE option in the Photo Gallery and look at my picture: Woman from Pushkar.

Anyone out there who recognises her? Like to share your picture and story?

Oh, and re your comment here .....what's his story? He was so animated and had lovely sparkly eyes. Wish I knew what he was talking about!

I really hope manu people will react about this deserto woman! Of course, I will search the net myself also. And yes, I will keep you posted about my progress here. I have this great plan... but first I'll nee more response, than I will tell you about it!

The old man in Varamasi... I know him because I live a few months a year in that city. He mainly tells his audience religious stories, like stories from the Ramayan. Sometimes, they sing Bhajans together.

Found another photo of Papu, but now nobody knows who the maker of this photograph is....! Found this one on the website of a travel agent. Want to see her? She is in the photo gallery, People and Portraits.... My searching will continue... There just have to be people out there who recognise her, who took her photograph in Pushkar and who will mail me one day....

I've been in Rajastan this october, and meet Papu. I'm not aware of her popularity when i took the photo. Her eyes are very very beautiful, as she.
Please, find here her photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/karl_at_bcn/2106692016/

Best regards
