Craztravel there have been several threads on Jaisalmer safaris here - maybe you could check those out. By February the majority of Indian tourists have 'died down' and anywhere you go would not be so crowded. It depends if you want an isolated, off the beaten track experience or to stay in a luxury tent - all are available here.

I went to Khuri
Since I have nothing to compare it to (except a nightmarish camel trip in the Thar Desert in Pakistan) I can only say that my experience was Ahhhhsome. I stayed at Mama's, and they arranged the camels for us. The little thatched huts were very cool. The bright, light-pollution-free-star-studded nights were amazing. The drivers they found, the camels (my greatest fear, the source of the Pakistan Nightmare) too, were all perfect. I have heard that the "desert" is much closer from Khuri, but again, can't compare it to anywhere else. I have nothing but the highest regards and the best of memories of Khuri.

Hello,
My suggestion to the over night sleeping in desert excursion would be to enjoy two things at the same time. Having a jeep sight seeing arranged for the areas around Jaislmer like Ludharva ruines, Bada Bagh, amar sagar etc with packed lunch and then going onwards to the sam or khuri sanddunes for a short camel track, sunset from the dunes and dinner and to sleep at your camp with or without tent . Happy travel. |
