sardar samand is like a paradise, very beautiful and full of nature with the beautiful view of lake. Most important thing is that it is non tourisry places. |

Anyone know how long the bus takes from Osiyan to Jaisalmer - or whether we'd need to get a taxi if we catch that train from Jodphur or the bus, then have lunch and look around Osiyan for a couple of hours, would we have time to go on to Jaisalmer before dark?

Hi also, we have been in Khimsar last year and we are just back from Osian and Sardar Samand.
In Khimsar is just the hotel interesting, but they arrange an expensive jeep safari. We saw a lot of Blackbucks there and at the end you will sit on the top of a sand dune with tea to watch the sunset. (Possible to sleep in luxery huts in he middle of the dune - sounds good, but mostly occupied from tougroups). You are German, so you can read this - also there are some pictures: Hotel Khimsar Fort: http://www.ingrids-welt.de/reise/ind/html/u-khimsar.htm Blackbuck Safari: http://www.ingrids-welt.de/reise/ind...orthsafari.htm This year we had a stop in Osian and I liked it. Nice temple, but no overnight stay. We went from Jodpur vs. Osian to Pokaran Fort. Sardar Samand is a realy nice place. Built in the 30`s in "Bauhaus"style as a hunting lodge, today a Welcome Heritage Hotel. Something special in Rajasthan, some birds around but not that wildlife we had expected. The Lake is realy big and the pelicanes are always white dots at the other side of the lake.. ;-) The road to Sardar Samand is long and loneley and we where the only guests his night. Busy Tourgroups are not nice, but to be the only one is also a not a very comfortable feeling... This hotel is superb for "to be away from it all", for rest and peace ist is the best place arround Jodhpur. Wait some weeks and it will be on my webside too... Ingrid |

It is really weird being the only people in a hotel isn't it? Or in a restaurant....
