HI all

I am visiting a friends marriage. But have one buffer day after marriage.

Planning to visit udaipur on that day and returning ahmedabad in the evening.

Will reach Udaipur on 8 am by train and return from udaipur at 7.30 in the evening.
i know there is not much time to see many places, but can some one suggest must see/do in this short span?

Do the travel agents conduct any oneday sight seeing tour and how much that cost?(i think this is the perfect idea for a one day trip)

May i take the liberty to ask how many days it actually takes for a good trip to udaipur from ahmedabad/vadodara?

You could visit the City Palace and Jagdish Temple in the morning; in the afternoon you could take a boat trip to Jagmandir island, followed by a sundowner on the terrace of the Fateh Prakash hotel (I think it's the Fateh Prakash... I'm not sure).

Boat trip requires water in the lake, though. I don't know what the water situation is these days.

We stayed some days at Udaipur in 2007.

Our hotel arranged a half-day city-tour by rickshaw for 500 rs. Probably a travel-agent can arrange that also.

Besides some markets we visited in an afternoon:
-The cenotaphs of the rulers
-A Jain temple
-Moti Magri, a court around the remainders of the oldest castle
-Sahelion Ki Bari a court with many and mostly working, fountains.
-Shilipgram a craft village intended to show the tribal live in these region.
-Monsoon Palace, high above the city.

In the morning you can visit the City Palace.

I liked the view from Kumbhalgarh Fort but it will take away a lot of limited time you have.

Shilpgram is good but I guess the fair happens in November/December.

Go through this, might help you :

I liked Mewar Haveli during my stay there.. Call them at +91 294 2521140 to book in advance. The view of Palace from the rooftop in the night is pretty cool. The standard room should be around 1000.
A journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it.

Yes ...true..we have taken a Auto-Rikshaw for the day and it took us 350 for the day.. though not much of travelling and everything was within the city premises but hiring and rikshaw for 350 is not very costly...and you roam around with your own will and own pace... met a nice Rikshaw driver mr.Salim..and it was a wonderful experience to be with him..
