New Year's Eve in Jaisalmer

My family and I are visiting Rajasthan in late December and have reservations in Jaisalmer for the night of December 31st.

Does anyone know of a good place to be for New Years in Jaisalmer? I was planning on playing it by ear and finding a good place during the day by asking others, but if I can get an idea beforehand, it'd be ideal.

Thanks for your time.

Many of the tourist resorts around Jaisalmer have firework displays on new year's eve, so try to find a rooftop restaurant or similar from which to watch them.

The guest house we were staying in last new year's eve and will be staying at again this year - Fifu's - puts on a special buffet dinner for all the guests. With the illuminated fort and the fireworks it's a magical evening - perhaps your hotel will do something similar.

Thanks for the reply, Mickey.

We tried at Fifu Guest House, but unfortunately they're all booked for the New Year. The gentlemen I spoke with - Om Kawaliya - was very helpful, though. He suggested that, since they're booked for the night of the 31st, to celebrate the New Year on the desert with a group of 20 or so other tourists. He had vacancies for the 1st and 2nd, which I quickly made "un-vacant".

Still, I'd like to have a backup plan (Actually, this is my backup plan. I'm waiting to hear from the Artist Hotel.), so [to others] please continue to post ideas for New Years celebrations in Jaisalmer.

Thanks for your time.

That's a great pity, as I think it's the most desirable place to stay in all of Jaisalmer. But I'm not surprised it's full - we booked our rooms way back in February.
