Mumbai to Pushkar

Hi
I am after advice of the best and quickest way to get from Mumbai to Ajmer/Pushkar by train - or should I jo to Jaipur and back track? Also any advice on a nice and not too expensive accommodation option in Pushkar during the camel fair (max Rp 1500 - 2000 per night).
Thanks
Shanti Sheila

Train 9007 departs Bandra (Mumbai) daily at 21:00 and gets to Ajmer at 16:25 the following day.

Train 9679 departs Mumbai Central (Mon, Thur, Sat.) at 13:50 and gets to Ajmer at 09:30 the following day.

2-tier air con = Rs 1438 (only available on train 9007)
3-tier air con = Rs 918
Sleeper Class = Rs 337 (not air con)

Book these tickets NOW and get them sent to a hotel in Mumbai, last year it was very difficult to get a berth on any train going towards the Camel Fair.

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the train info - will get to booking a train in the next day or so. I will read up on booking from abroad as I have only ever booked while in India. I am sure I will work it all out and I know where I will be staying in Mumbai. Thanks again for this info as I probably would have waited til I arrived in Mumbai to book.

Buy the tickets as soon as you can. For the details visit http://www.erail.in/ or http://www.indianrail.gov.in/

Going from Ajmer to Pushkar is easy. You can take a bus or hire a Taxi.

Talk to the hotel where you are planning to book the room.

I think this is little bit off track.

Thanks Paresh,
though the erail and indianrail sites seem a bit complicated to me , i'll try to book directly at the station after arriving in mumbai...i have at least 2 or 3 days in the city before going up north to pushkar, so it might be no problem to book then...anyway, i have no credit card which i think is necessary for booking online...
