|  Mallinath Fair : Tilwara, Barmer district, Rajasthan. Exact Dates 2009? I've read on IM about the largest cattle fair happening in April, LP wrote that it would be the Mallinath Fair. would anyone have the exact dates for this fair in 2009? And would it be happening at Tilwara? Any past experience? |

| hi I don't know about the Mallinath Fair but if you mean the Balotra Cattle Fair which takes place in Barmer (Tilwara), it is held always 14 days after the Indian festival of Holi (this year 10.03.) so it will be held in the last week of March and first week of April 2009. |

| It states in LP Oct 2008 edition as Mallinath Fair(March-April). You're right that its a cattle fair, If its happening first week april then i'll again miss another opportunity to attend a fair in Rajasthan. You're quite sure its 4th week march - 1st week april huh? Anything happening in 2nd-4th week april in Rajasthan? |

| Balotra is the last animal fair in Northern India. Afterwards it gets too hot and the marriage season comes to an end. Animal fairs only start again in September, after the monsoon. |

| The Barmer Cattle Fair in Tilwara starts on Chaitra Budi Ekadashi day: 18th March and lasts two weeks until the Chaitra Sudi Ekadashi. I'll be in Barmer from 24th March to 30th March and one of the reasons of my joyurney is the Cattle Fair in Tilwara. Jorge |
