June in Rajasthan- silly, too hot!!!

I am planning to spend 2 weeks in Rajasthan in early June. However I know that it is really hot during that time of the year. Can someone advise if this is a stupid idea for June?? Thanks.

Stupid is a strong word, but lets just say its not a good idea.
Temperatures will be in the mid/late 40's (Centigrade) during the day.

head for some of the cooler places in Rajasthan and it can be fun, less people, lower prices (off-season rates apply) and less trouble.
Best places to visit in this time are Udaipur, Mount Abu and Bundi. The hills proved a fresher climate.

The best thing to ask is "why do you want to visit Rajsthan that too for two weeks?"

Hey, I went to Rajasthan in mid May. I spent two weeks there in that heat. It was between.. say, 45 deg C and 48 deg C. I did Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Udaipur.

Jodhpur and Udaipur weren't as hot compared to Jaipur and Jaisalmer.

We found it ok. We were from Singapore and very accustomed to heat -- lower temperatures back home but more humid. Rajasthan was hot but not as humid, so it was doable. As long as you drink plenty of water (we were drinking 6L of water a day and showering 5 times daily). We weren't the only ones though. In Jaisalmer we saw some French girls, some Canadians and some Aussies. And no one else, but it's great cos you pretty much have the old city to yourself! And the rooms are half price!

Your mileage may vary -- having done it myself with much trepidation, I won't recommend it to everyone.. but I won't say it's a bad idea either. We had a lot of fun.

Great! It did not sound that bad. Now I have to really think hard whether I should or defer to another year or two and visit in Nov (with Pushkar).

Also going to Rajathan in May-June

Hi there, I found this thread because I'm worried about the temperatures.

We're going for three weeks between May 19th and June 10th, will we miss out on many things becuase it'll be 'too' hot?

Udaipur, Mount Abu and Bundi are good recommendations it seems, where else could we go? We want to see the Taj Mahal, probably best at dawn. Are there things we definitely shouldn't try? Trips to desert etc?

Thanks

Heat!

I was in India (Delhi, not Rajasthan) last June/July and although I love the heat, I wouldn't recommend a trip there at that time. You have to organize things according to how much heat you can stand (and I usuallycan take quite a bit, having lived in Africa for years). Ultimately, this means you do less than you would actually like to. In short, I really wouldn't recommend it. I won't do it again, that's for sure. You would get more out of your trip by going in another season.

have you ever experienced days on end when the temperature is over 40C? if not, you might not realise just how debilitating it is, and just how little you will feel like doing anything. it's not just hot, it's painful to be outside.

June is the worst month for west Rajasthan - sandstorms for several days on end, heat above 45'c up to 56'c. Don't even think about it - I have never stayed in Jaisalmer in all the time I have been living here in these months. Dust will aggravate my asthma and the heat makes inside living with a/c like gaol. This year I will be in Himachel! However, as Anjuli says, Mt Abu would be good. Jodhpur is hideously hot as well.
