Jodphur - Udaipur: 01 Jan 08
Hi,
Not sure what the New Year's situation is like in India. Would it be possible to catch a Private Bus from Jodphur - Udaipur on the 1st January 2008? Does the country come to a stand still on New Years Day ..... |

Hello saffa_guy and welcome to indiamike.com
Everything carries on as normal in India over Xmas & New year. Udaipur is OK for NYE 'parties', nothing wild, just a few drinks and cheers in rooftop parties, so if you can change your Itinerary a little, you may be able to include a NYE party in Udaipur.

For an early taste of India, go to the London Mela today.
Take the Tube to Acton Town, then turn left at the exit and follow the crowd. Should be about 100,000 mainly Asians at the Mela, great food, great entertainment and a wonderful atmosphere, if I remember right, it should go from about 14:00 till 20:00. |

Steven,
Wow ... thanks for the speedy response. Much appreciated. Yep, heading to the Mela in the next hour or so. Having done a bit of further reading reckon we gonna hire a taxi from Jodphur To Udaipur via Ranakpur. Its our 1st wedding anniversary on the 2nd Jan 08 so reckon Udaipur would be lovely for this. Once again, thanks! |

i spent 31st December of 03 in Udaipur..even though didn't explore the party circuit, but I assume there was nothing much going one...
Udaipur is not a 'wild' kind of place.. we stayed in Paras Mahal, which I guess was a 4 star property...and they had a party going around their swimming pool and guests were allowed there for some charges... On 1st of 04 we visited the City Palace, Jag Mandir, Crystal Gallery and Vintage Car Collection...but again nothing unusal about anything for New year...life goes on Normal.. |

Hey it'll be a nice change from Bondi - police road blocks, all night dance parties and then comatose backpackers littering the beach and streets all the next day!!!! Life goes on normal - sounds perfect to me!
You can come and experience NYEve here if you want a wild night. |

We did this last year over X-mas and newyear. Yep, it's a bit more busy, and we did have to look around a bit for a hotel in daipur, but for the rest no problems.
