Jodhpur to Jaipur--PLEASE HELP.
Anyone know how bad the road is between Jodhpur and Jaipur and how long the drive takes. Also any interesting sites on the way.Originally I planned on flying from Udaipur to Jodhpur staying a couple of days and then flying to Jaipur. However several internet sites say driving is more rewarding and time spent at the airport coupled with delays on India air make driving a better option. Please help.

They're probably right about the delays at the airport etc, but I think a train would be your best bet. From memory the scenery's not that great (not enough to take a car over a train, anyway) and the roads can be a bit rough.
It takes about 5 hours by train and it's much cheaper than a car |

And why not take a car with driver from Udaipur to Jodhpur, via the strategic Kumbhalgarh Fort and Ranakpur Jain Temple, with its 1000+ pillars? Interesting journey.
Did this last November - 3500Rp for an airconditioned car with driver booked through our hotel. Last edited by Aussie 5 : Jan 17th, 2006 at 04:46. |

hello,
If you can afford it take a private car,be specific in what you want and dont let the travel agent push you around.how ever i wouldnt reccomend the private bus,i have traveled 3 times on them and really did not have a good experience on any of them.I would suggest the train it goes from jodhpur to jaipur get a window seat on a day time train and your set.if you get a chance go to pushkar its a great place to visit and relax on a rooftop drinking chai. Hi, I would recommend take taxi from Udaipur-jodhpur-Jaipur, so that you can able to visit Ranakpur Jain Temple, Khumbhal Garh Fort and Pushkar. If you need more info please get back to me.
Have a nice trip! |

Why not just take the intercity express from Jodhour to Jaipur. 5 painless hours in a chair car and youre in Jaipur. The drive would take at least 7 hours in a fast car!!

I took once state run aircondition bus from Jodhpur to Jaipur and found the road very good as usual in Rajasthan. About sights on the way I did not think of course (it was overnight bus) but think you can visit Pushkar and Ajmer - these two places are not much developed but have lots of interesting sights.

Alext,
From all reports, the new six lane highway from Jaipur to Pushkar is one of the best in the country! The old road was really bad.
