jodhpur or jaisalmer

I will have two days to spend in either Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. Can anyone offer any suggestions? If I see Jodhpur,I will go to Osiyan, someplace I want to see...but if I see Jaisalmer, I will be able to see something totally unique, thus the delemia.

Any suggestions?

Both the places are worth visiting having massive forts and palaces.In Jaisalmer you can enjoy camel safari and in the evening relish the Rajasthani cultural programme

i would go for jaisalmer rather as it has more to offer likes of camel riding, enjoying folk dance in the night, preety quite place to relax and its always so amazing to sleep under sky.

Depends on what your priorities are! If you want to enjoy architecture, Jodhpur should be the first choice! The Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur, IMO, much more imposing than its Jaisalmer counterpart, plus there is the Umaid Bhawan palace in jodhpur, which too, is worth visiting!!
However, if you want diversity, then Jaisalmer stands out! There you will have a majestic fort along with the camel safari on the dunes, plus, if you want, a night stay in the desert, in a village called Khori! Jaisalmer gives a good feel of the desert, which Jodhpur doesn't!

I know Jaisalmer is very touristy, but what about Jodhpur? Does the touristiness distract from the cities?

I wuld suggest that Jaisalmer is a much better bet. Agreed that the Meherangarh (Jodhpur) Fort is much more imposing than its Jaisalmer Fort counterpart. But Jaisalmer is a place which reveals itself as you walk around the quaint town also the most colourful place in the country.

And in Jodhpur you really cant see much of Umed Bhavan as they have "HIGHLY" restricted access to major parts of the palace. Only a miniscule part is available for public access.

Plus in Jaisalmer there are the Havelis, the Desert Safari in clear crystal blue skies is going to be something that you wouldnt forget for a long time to come. And thats something that you wouldnt get in Jodhpur.

Honestly if you do have the time dont miss on Jodhpur as well. But forced between Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, I wuld suggest go for Jaisalmer. Have a nice one.
