Question Jodhpur and Jaisalmer in October'08

Hi,
I am planning to go to Jodhpur and Jaisalmer with wife and kid from 8 to 11th October from Delhi. ( This is Navaratri/Dasera time).

- What weather should we expect this year at this time? Can we walk comfortably during day time, or will it be too hot? Do you suggest going to these places at this time?

- Since I shall travel by overnight trains between Delhi, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, I can stay either 2 days in Jodhpur/3 days in Jaisalmer, or 3 days in Jodhpur/2 days in Jaisalmer. Which option do you suggest?

- thanks,
smnray

Weather will be fine, not too hot.
Overnight train is the best option.
One day is ok for Jodhpur. More than one day is required in Jaisalmer if you want to visit the sand dunes.

Early October can be fairly hot out our way but it is doable as signified by the number of people who do come here at that time. You may manage with just a fan, but many people like air conditioning as some relief from the afternoon heat. Early mornings up to around noon, are most pleasant for getting out and about - but you may not mind the heat - it will be in mid 30's around this time sometimes up to 40'c. The evenings are also nice after the sun goes down. Up to you re how many days to spend in either place - personally I would do the 3 days in Jaisalmer because it is a non-polluted city - you can wander the Fort (no entrance fee), see the local sights, wander the little back lanes with unique Jaisalmer stone carved buildings and perhaps make a desert visit with camel riding if you want. For Jodhpur there is the Fort, Mandore Gardens, Umaid Bhawan palace and Bishnoi village safari depending on your preferences.
