Jaislemer - 4 days - Please help

IMers!

I am planning to take my team out to Jaiselmer from work. We have 4 days Bangalore - Bangalore (Thu-Sun)

I could fly to Jaipur.. spend a day in Jaipur
Overnight train to Jaiselmer
Day 2 and Day 3
Overnight train back to Jaipur
Fly out of Jaipur

I know it isnt worth it. but that's ok given that the team is keen on going to Jaiselmer.

My questions...
What are the "must do" things in Jaipur on day 1 and Jaiselmer on day 2-3?
Should we take the 2 day camel trek?
Any other information that helps the above plan?

Thank you.

Are you going before November 1st? (Delhi-Jaisalmer flights start on Nov 1st)

Can you get good fares and times to Jodhpur instead of Jaipur (I know you can get direct Bangalore-Jaipur flights)

Don't spend all the time on a camel trek because you will not have enough time to wander about the city, taking in its unique character and history. It is a walkabout place for city sightseeing and you want to do this at a leisurely pace. The Fort itself could easily take you more than half a day. Then the next best place would be Patwa -ki- haveli; other places are the lake (Gadisagar) Salim Singh haveli, Nathmal-ki-haveli and just the back streets with their golden stone carvings on most buildings. The whole of Jaisalmer is constructed from golden Jaisalmer stone which is why it is called the 'Golden City'.
I suggest you do either a one night safari, or an afternoon safari combined with sightseeing outside the city, an hour or so camel ride at sunset, then return to your accommodation. You could have dinner out in the desert, watch a cultural programme of local musicians and dancers etc. There are quite a number of options here.
Also look at your itinerary and check whether you could fit in a stop in Jodhpur to view the Fort? Overnight train to Jodhpur on your return maybe - then next train or bus to Jaipur same day later?? It would probably cut one less night from Jaisalmer however but you might be able to do it.
