Jaisalmer - Udaipur??

Whats the best way to get from Jaisalmer to Udaiphur?? Do you have to go via Jaipur if you go by train?

Can you fly from Jodhpur to Udaipur?

Hi, You can catch flight to Udaipur from Jodhpur. Indian airline is only company flying between both the city but remember Indian Airline cancelled their flight till 31 July. You can reach Jodhpur from jaisalmer by bus/train and taxi.

Hi Sam,

I would suggest that you drive to Udaipur from Jodhpur as then you would get to see ROHET, PALI & RANAKPUR TEMPLES en-route.It would be about 07 hours drive (including the visits). I have returned today itself from my trip to Rajasthan wid my frnd and believe me it was AWESOME.

When you drive from Jodhpur do viidt the RoopRajDurries store near Bishnoi village. You can see carpet weavers at their work. Its' amazing and you get good deal for lovely carpets.

After Udaipur I would suggest a couple of days at Mount Abu where heritage hotels like Conaught House & Jaipur palace make u feel at home. Also Delwara temples are worth vsiting and it's a photographers' paradise (sorry to say but photography is prohibited) but you can save the images on your mind which would never fade.

Sunset & Honeymoon point is a big NO on weekends.

Yes you can fly from Jodhpur to Udaipur (I hope by the time you arrive, the flights will be more regular - unfortunately this flight gets cancelled sometimes because of "technical reasons"!)

We are also doing just this...as you've suggested, Lily. Presently, we are booked into 3 nights at Jodhpur (including the travel day to get into Jodhpur) and then 3 nights in Udaipur (including the travel day to get into Udaipur)....is this too much time in these two cities? Is Bikaner necessary to include into our itinerary as the "journey-break"?? Also, any recommendations on (low-budget but clean/comfortable) accommodations in Jaisalmer?

Can you drive from Jaisalmer directly to Udaipur? The only train runs at 4pm whereas if you started a car trip early in the morning you could do the drive in a day.

Also what are the costs of a car and driver in rajasthan and for distances like this, one way?
