Jaisalmer to Bikaner: bus or train?
I'm trying to find the best way to travel from Jaisalmer to Bikaner.
I found a train connection via Jodhpur: - Jaisalmer 23:15 - Jodhpur 5:20 - Jodhpur 10:10 - Bikaner 16:00 (with few hours to have a quick look to the town) What about the bus connection? How frequent are the buses, how long the journey, how comfortable? Is there a night bus? Are there toilets on the buses or do they make stops? Thanks for the support! once you see the map of Rajasthan. u will see this train goes a whole way round, and so takes so much time. The journey path will be like an "L". If you go by road, it will be like "/". Understood? Go and go by road, there are buses and u can hire a car (that will be better) and can reach Bikaner from Jaisalmer in half day. regards, Bhaswaran |

Yes Gianni, don't miss the sights in Jodhpur. Better spend some time during the day in Jodhpur & then take a bus or a cab to Bikaner.

The buses u get from Jaisalmer to Bikaner will be local buses and there are no toilets in buses.
I will advise u to go for a hired car instead. But if u have not visited Jodhpur earlier, then go by train route and spend at least a day in Jodhpur for sight seeing, and then take the train or a car/bus to Bikaner. regards, Bhaswaran ![]() |

Good hints, guys. Finally I booked the train via Jodhpur, with one day stop-over to visit the "blue-city" before Bikaner. I preferred this solution (yes, travelling an L-shaped itinerary) to the direct bus, I love travelling by bus in India but 6-8 hours can be too long!
Thanks! Gianni |

There is no direct train between Jaisalmer and Bikaner. Changing trains at Jodhpur will take nearly 17 hours to cover just 578 km.
Take a bus or taxi. Trainfinder @ www.indiagroove.com |

It's amazing how fast a track can be built when it can prove useful to the Military.
