Please suggest I am reaching jaiselmer from delhi by train at around 12 NOon. Can i get cab directly for khuri village as i am thinking to go directly to Khuri and have night stay there.
next day after breakfast we want to come back Jaiselmer to explore the city.

You can take a jeep - some are standing empty hopefully waiting for customers to take to their hotels. I think around 700 rupees would be the price.
There doesn't seem to be a taxi stand as such - plenty of auto rickshaws however. You might be lucky and find a car - more comfortable than a jeep.

Every cloud has a silver lining!
Updated information on best spot in dunes?
Does anyone have more recent information regarding the preferred spot to see the dunes? I see lots of discussion on this thread of Sam vs Khuri, etc., but it's all from last year.
Opinions on a good operator are also welcome. Right now we are leaning toward a sunset excursion, returning to our hotel in Jaisalmer after dark so we can see the fort all lit up. So many people have spoken positively of their overnights out in the dunes, and to be honest that's what I personally would prefer, but we'll have children (8 and 5) with us, so it would have to be really very comfortable and well managed. Input please! Thanks!

I would say nothing much has changed since last year re both locations - I do think Sam is getting 'cleaned up' a lot better - my personal preference for spectacular dunes is Sam. There are plenty of resorts in both places with bathroom tents - it would be fine for your children, myniyer. Hopefully you are not going to go in Diwali week or the Christmas - New Year week - prices will be outlandish then, and the crowds immense.

Mellody - this may be too late an answer for you (don't know when you intend to go) but Vinod answered your original question and it is yes to all the ones above except the phone number. If you are going out of the Christmas - New Year period you can contact them when you are in Jaisalmer and have them do the safari for you - once any rush is over there is no need to book ahead.
Re Moomal phone no - I have these from an oldish card of theirs:
02992 252392; 02992 252492 and an email address is moomal@rtdc.in
