jaisalmer or shekhavati
i've read some very helpful suggestions on this site but needs some help with planning an itinerary, hopeful other people can offer me some advice. planning to leave from udaipur and we have 2 options: hire car to jodhpur and jaisalmer or go to jaipur and hire car thru shekhavati. we have only 5 days and cannot do both. i've read a lot of interesting things about jaisalmer but we are not into camel safari though i would love to see the havelis/fort. is it worthwhile to go out there (it seems pretty far no matter how you go) or is it better to go to shekhawati. any suggestion is much appreciated.

I've never been to shekhawati so I can't tell about that but in my opinion you can't go to rajasthan without seeing Jaisalmer! I think it gives you a great impression of real rajasthani life. This summer I stayed two month in Hotel Shahi Palace and it was like staying in a guest family. I was invited to meet the families of the four brothers leading the hotel and the driver Shaitan brought me to his village where we had chai with his incredibly welcoming mother. That was a great time for me and during the time I was there I did not meet one person that was unhappy to have come there.
Anyway in case you go to shekhawati, tell me how it was. I wish you a great time |

Hi, two days and one night is enough to visit Shekhawati area. If you start from Jaipur then you can visit Nawalgarh, Mukangarh and stay at Mandawa, next morning you can visit mandawa and nearby area and travel back to Delhi. If you need any assistance, get back to me.
Have a nice time! |

We had 2 nights...1 night we stayed right in Mandawa and the next we stayed at the Desert Resort and also did a camel safari for a few hours..I really enjoyed it!! One thing i do remember is that it took almost 9 hours to get from Delhi to Mandawa...But we were on a small tour bus, it was perhaps the most bumpy ride of my life..But my best memories were in Mandawa of my whole trip..
