Jaisalmer--evening camel ride possible?
I'm in Jaisalmer for two nights in early december, and staying in the fort. I'm wondering if it's possible to do a camel ride just a few hours in the evening for sunset and/or dinner? Is it worth it? Recommendations?

Ankab, this is the most common form of 'safari' that visitors to Jaisalmer will do. The reason being that for most months of the year it is far too hot in the afternoons - most people won't start from Jaisalmer to go out for their ride until at least 4.00p.m. when the heat starts to become less.
Now with winter approaching the days are slightly cooler and people go out a little earlier. Your hotel may be able to arrange your camel ride - the cheapest would be to start from the Fort gate and have a ride out to some lookout point just outside Jaisalmer if that is all you want to do. Get your camel to drop you back to Kanishka restaurant for your dinner! Other options are a jeep ride including some outside Jaisalmer sightseeing e.g. Amar Sagar, Badabagh, Ludrva, pick up camel near Kanoi and ride into sand dunes for sunset. Enjoy dinner out in the desert etc. More costly but yes, I would say worth it for the experience. Also camel riding in Khuri direction but bear in mind, Khuri is not the idyllic unspoilt picturesque village it used to be - now a sea of tent resorts and village style accommodation places.
