Jaipur Vs Jodhpur Vs Bikner Vs Udaipur Vs Bundi Vs….

I’m a bit confused to decide on to pick the right place amoung the big bunch....

I’ve 3 days in hand in Rajastan. Also I’m a bit keen on stuffs like forts, ruins, history etc. In this case what you people suggest would be the ‘right’ place…. I was thinking of Jaipur…but then I somehow get a feel from people’s opinion that it’s a bit overrated….I’m somewhat a budjet+ category So pl. don’t recommend me to go to the Udaipur palace and the dinner there is great. Also i'm not a kind of traveling for relaxing kind (i would stay at home for that )

Pros and cons of these locations and experiences please. I’ll be traveling sometimes in the June.

Methinks the fort in Jodhpur is fantastic, it has a brilliant audiotour and beautiful views of the city. The cool thing about Jodhpur is that the fort hovers over the city so you get stunning views of it from down below. I would recommend a guest house with a good rooftop restaurant, e.g. Haveli Guest House. The fort is nicely lit in the evening so having a beer and dinner outside in this ambience is great.

Udaipur is great but if the lake still doesn't have water, I would pass it by. Haven't been to Jaipur so no comment on that, though I've heard the same about it being overrated from many travellers. (Although I realize it's all completely subjective... I would like to go there, still.)

Whatever you end up choosing will be good, I'm sure!

well if your main intrest is history ,ruins then you should leave udaipur out as its main attraction is lake palace and lake pichola but however in june there wont be much water in the lake.
between jaipur and jodhpur, jaipur has city palace, nahalgarh fort, amer fort besides hawa mahal.you will also get to see the old planned city of jaipur. plus you will accomodation that will suit every pocket.
jodhpur has a towering mehrangarh fort and thats it...so if you have just three days try spending two in jaipur and go to ajmer sharif for a one day excursion...

yep my vote is for jodhpur too. absolutely loved it there. we were there... 4 days i think, and i really didn't want to leave. we stayed at yogis guesthouse which was fantastic

Missed Jaipur,so cannot say.
Jodhpur.The fort is well worth a look.the m.p.3 audio tour is well worth the money, A guide you can turn of when you want to is magic The lassi shop by the gate serves the best i have tasted(it's the clotted cream they add) was disapointed by the town though , found it very dirty.Also it is the only town where a racist remark was directed at me.Maybe that has coloured my recollection.

I know all the places mentionned and for me the contest is between Bundi and Jodhpur. In Jodhpur you can spend a day visiting Bishnoi villages..., really interesting (at least for foreigners), and in the other hand, Bundi is something different, probably too peaceful, but in India no place is really peaceful. I'm sure you already know all the answers. Good luck.

The Mehrangarh Fort is awe-inspiring: teetering on a cliff, looking out on Jodhpur. The views and the audio tour are terrific. In Jodhpur, there's also the Jaswant Thada, commemorating rulers of Jodhpur, and the Umaid Bhawan palace, or the Maharaja's palace, but they cannot compete with the fort.

In Jaipur and its surroundings, there's the City Palace complex, the Amber Fort (an impressive sight, perched on hill, but in my opinion, not as awe-inspiring as the Mehrangarh Fort), Nahargarh Fort, the Galta and Surya Mandir temples, the Jaigarh Fort.

Udaipur may not be worth it, as Lake Pichola is not much of a lake due to successive droughts, and the lake and the Lake Palace are "the" sights in Udaipur. The city also has a massive City Palace complex, though.

There's a massive fort in Chittorgarh, too, but I haven't been there. A couple of friends told me it is not a happening town.

Near Bikaner, there's the Karni Mata or the rat temple in Deshnok. If you like rats as well as forts.

If only the Mehrangarh fort was in Jaipur...
(But if you take the morning train from Jodhpur to Jaipur, you'll be in Jaipur around noon.)

I'd choose Bundi any day, though I confess not to having seen Johdpur. Bundi really gives you that back in time feel as the bulk of the accomodation is grouped up in the old town right under the fort!
There are also many guest houses with a bit of character Kat Koun,the lake view to name but two the Lake View is in the prime ministers old house, the front room is like a living museum.
If you're there don't miss the Sathi lassi house awesome lassis, it's just down from the fort entrance!
Bundi also has the attraction of some rather nice Baoris or step wells the Queens baori near the bus stand is beautiful, almost Gothic in design there are at least 5 other stepwells dotted around town!

I would love to go back to Bundi, stay again at Haveli Braj Bhushanjee where I had an absolutely perfect room, and let Keshav Bhati (tel. 9414394241) take me around the palace and fort again. Then the following day I would have him drive me out to the 15,000-year-old paintings. Those I missed the first time around and regret. I would also go back and eat at Haveli Katkoun. People spend the entire evening there just sitting around and talking! People in Bundi are especially friendly.

I am in Jopdphur at the moment via Jaipur. We stayed at a fort called Neemrana which is about 100 km west of Delhi. It is an excellent place to chill. It is beautiful. It reminded me of the Alhambra at Granada. You can get good food there and a basic room will cost 1000R. They have all of the complimentary therapies. I found it a good place to chill having been frazzled by several days of long journies.

Jaipur was dissapointing for me. It is a dump. Jodphur isn't much better. The highlight has been the food. Anyone in Jodphut should try the Apriya Resturant on the main street. Amazing thalis and also south Indian food. Very cheap, clean and packed out b y locals.
