Hi everybody,
please advise us on following. We are currently in Jaipur, and really want to see Pushkar... but so less time.... Is it possible to hire a car with driver and get out from Jaipur early in the morning... to Pushkar..(stay couple of hours) and go to Delhi (get there late evening, midnight)??? Thanks a lot.... |

But you could get train 9106 (HW ADI MAIL) from Jaipur at 04:55, arriving in Ajmer at 07:25 and take a taxi from there (about 30km). And then take train 2016 AJMER SHTBDI from Ajmer (15:50) to Delhi (22:40). But it depends whether you can get tickets for those trains at short notice. Bear in mind that if the Shatabdi takes 7 hours from Ajmer to Delhi then a car will probably take rather longer. |

As Dhans says the rushing about is not worth it - you could miss your Delhi connections altogether because of some unexpected delays on the way. I wouldn't do it! But if you do let us know how it went!! I saw Pushkar the first time for one hour - just to the lake and looked about. When I stayed there the next time it was much better.

You could probably do it if you rented a car and driver. I went on a one day trip from Jaipur to Pushkar during the camel festival by taking a public bus. We managed to spend quite a bit of time there before coming back to Jaipur and made it back by mid-evening.
I agree with Aishah. I wouldn't do it if you had to get a flight, bus, or train at the end of it because I would be too conscious of the time that I wouldn't enjoy the experience. I think it can be done but how much you like it depends on how much you like spending time in the car and how much you really want to see Pushkar. |

Thanx a lot to all of you helping us...
But at the end we decided against such a hectic trip... and went straight to Delhi. Maybe next time
Currently enjoying the atmosphere of the Paharganj... |
