Hi,
I am going to India in a few days and have begun to do some research to find places to go and visit while in these particular cities (jaipur, udaipur, pushkar). Things that are off the beaten track so to speak. Even some forts, museums, mama/pops resturants, places to met and great for drings or a friendly game of pool. No camel or elephant rides ![]() I would be most greatful for your responses and any links. |

well . . . . those p[articular three places ARE the beaten track, so to speak, but there's lots of other places in RJ that are little visited.

Well those are the places where I am going to reside but I would love to take day trips to any surrounding areas.
I have searched and searched but just keep coming up with the same forts and museums or the links take me to travel agents. Do you have any favorite places to eat in these areas or places to hang out? Any information would be greatly appreciated. |

In Rajasthan you should not plan so much. Off the beaten track is in 9 out of 10 cases very good in any case. The places you mention are very popular, so staying near those places will not be so much off the track. Places to eat? The roadstalls!

While in Jaipur you could spend an evening in Chokhi Dhani , it is a 1/2 hr drive from central Jaipur .It is a resort made like a traditional rajasthani village and every evening they organise a carnival with all forms of rajasthani folk music/dances/little shops /traditional rajasthani meal(included in the cost of the entrance - approx 150/- Rupees) .

Thanks, I will check out that place. I am interested in festivals and music etc. Do you have any suggestions for Udaipur for festivals the last week of November?
