Jaipur/Jodhpur/Udaipur/Jaisalmer/Bikaner - must go but which one??

in our case we booked a tour and had paid the quoted price, then he changed the departure point on us. i don't know why, although i suspect there was some underhandedness in it. he said there was a shortage of camels in the dunes due to the festival at Sam or something.

Quite, indeed. It often seemed to me that the more you pay the more stuffy and less cozy and ff'ing chilly (airco at full blast) it gets. The menu in the meantime may not differ all that much from the cornershop. (Yes, I know, probably exaggerating.)
