Same as a hotel, I suppose; the form has to be filled in for the police.

Is that the form/book that has a line for the name of the ship you arrived on? I loved that, felt like I should have an array of steamer trunks and servants.

That I don't remember: haven't had to fill one in for a few years.
I think it is called a D2. 'Port of Entry' is probably there... Maybe 'How many porters in your party?' ![]() |

It doesnt sound like normal procedure. But all states change their procedures from time to time.

In our area - no. There is no need to fill out forms or show passport if you are booking your safari via a hotel organising it. I'm not too sure re independent agents but I think all you do is tell them where you are staying. You will have filled out a form already with your intial staying point. If you are going directly out on a safari with an operator and have not checked into a hotel or guesthouse, then there may be the form and passport required. Form btw is called a C Form and is required particularly if near a border area. It is collected by the police and lodged at the Foreigner Registration Office.

I've been on 3 different safaris with 3 different agents. I have never had to give my passport details when going out into the Thar.
Cheers Zoltan
