They look pretty good, I'm thinking of doing one in the future as you get to go to out of the way places with a group but backpacking plus they put back into the local economy, they have a social consciousness which is good. An Indiamike member (Guerik) did one recently (hope u don't mind me mentioning your name, Guerik). One of my bros and his girlfriend are at the moment doing a similar type of tour of rajasthan by Gecko (I think it's the same type of set up as Intrepid). They are both travel agents (that is my bro used to be till a couple of years ago and his girlfriend still is). Gecko and Intrepid are both Australian companies I think.

Don't mind at all, Samsara.
Laurans and everyone else: They are great, can't say enough nice things about them. I did the mountains and markets trip (a combination of golden triangle and mountains and mystics trips) and it was excellent. I think I've given more info in previous threads like this so if you do a search on those the info should come up but PM me if you have any specific q's

sounds good

Hello people...

I too have been looking into Intrepid. I have never been to india before but am DYING to go! I plan on going in Oct/Nov of 2005. Yeah, its a long way away I can only afford a 15 day or so tour though. I'm curious as to whether you can book your itinerary directly with Intrepid or do you have to find your own travel agent to do it? What about booking of the flight? Anyway, good luck and have fun and tell us about your experience...

Intrepid

Hi Redleader

With Intrepid you can do it yourself or if you need a bit of help you can book their trips using a travel agent. I am in the middle of booking a Peru trip for my client using Intrepid. My biking guide in Myanmar worked for Intrepid in India, China, Thailand etc and I found him to be an excellent guide and trust that most Intrepid guides are similar caliber based on all the feedback I have seen/heard.

The cost of going through a travel agent is not any higher than what you see on their web site, they just pay us a small fee for the work we do for our clients. Most if not all their itineraries do not include international air and you can arrange that with an agent who specializes in India or someone like me.

PM me or email me if you have any questions.

Redleader, they don't do flights or the other stuff that you do thru travel agents or airlines but you can book their tours direct thru their online site - forget the exact url but just enter intrepid tours in google search.
